Oaklyn Public School library Media Center
Welcome to the Oaklyn School Library Media Center! Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and vibrant environment where students can successfully seek information and ideas for their educational, informational and recreational needs. It is our intent that students will leave the school community with the tools to locate, evaluate and use information critically. We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our activities and procedures.
PreK - 5th grade come to the library once a week for story-time, instruction, research, or another planned activity. During this scheduled time, children will be able to check out books.
Students will be allowed to keep their books until their next library class. Books may be renewed, however they must be brought to the library so that we can make the necessary changes in the system. This is to avoid having the books appear on the overdue list.
The Library is open during the day to students needing materials or information for assignments or recreational reading. Students are not allowed in the library if there is no staff.
The essential role of the school library program is to ensure students acquire necessary information literacy skills and a love of reading to reach their full potential as lifelong learners.
